Labour weekend at the end of October officially marks the start of the 2025/2026 SLSNZ patrol season, with many volunteer lifeguards putting the iconic red and yellow flags in the sand on beaches across the country.

2025 Aon New Zealand Pool Rescue Championships.
It was once again a privilege to fly out flags alongside SLSNZ at the Aon New Zealand Pool Rescue Championships that took place from Friday 26 - Sunday 28 September at the Sir Owen Glenn National Aquatic Centre in Tāmaki Makaurau, Auckland.
This event demonstrates the vital link between lifesaving sport and real-life rescue readiness, bringing together world-class lifeguards and aspiring lifesavers to compete in pool events that mirror the skills needed to make critical decisions with clarity, to save lives on beaches across Aotearoa.
